Risk Management

Risk Management is an integral part of British Bulkers’ approach to decision making and accountability. Being involved in an increasingly volatile and hazard exposed business, we understand that Risk Management is a major priority in order to protect ship owners' interests and reduce their exposure to advert trends and hazards.

The company implements a fleet wide Risk Assessment process for certain hazardous operations undertaken onboard. Such risk assessments are utilized on board to ensure that hazardous shipboard operations are risk controlled and any residual risk involved is at "As Low As Reasonably Practicable" (ALARP) level.

British Bulkers has carried out a generic Risk Assessment on the principal operations, activities and practices performed by its ships in order to:

  • Assess the operations/practices in terms of identified risks to its ships, personnel and the environment.
  • Identify, record and establish appropriate safeguards.

The ships' operations and practices have been individually assessed against identified hazards and associated risks and adequate safeguards were taken until the residual risk was reduced to acceptable levels.
