QUALSHIP21

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) in an effort to eliminate substandard shipping has focused on improving methods for identifying poor-quality vessels (targeting schemes). However, regardless of the score that a vessel receives in the USCG targeting matrix, all foreign-flagged vessels are examined no less than once each year. This provides a few incentives for the well run, quality ship.

The high-quality vessels should be recognized and rewarded for their commitment to safety and quality. Therefore, on January 1, 2001, the Coast Guard implemented an initiative to identify high-quality ships, and provide incentives to encourage quality operations. This initiative is called QUALSHIP 21, quality shipping for the 21st century.

BRITISH BULKERS’ INC operating vessels have undergone numerous inspections by the USCG with great success and without identified deficiencies. Due to this fact, our Company's vessels that passed inspections have been recognised by the USCG as Qualship21 vessels.

Moreover, BRITISH BULKERS INC has been awarded by the USCG as a Qualship21 Company.

Paris MOU on Port State Control

Annually more than 18.000 inspections take place on board foreign ships in the Paris MoU ports, ensuring that these ships meet the international safety, security and environmental standards, and that crew members have adequate living and working conditions.

Ship's Risk Calculator / Company's Performance Calculator

Each ship in the information system is being attributed a ship risk profile (SRP). This SRP will determine the ship’s priority for inspection, the interval between its inspections and the scope of the inspection. Ships are assigned as high, standard or low risk. This is based on generic and historic parameters.

The Company Performance Calculator evaluates the performance of the ISM Companies. Evaluation is based on each Company's vessels detention and deficiency ratio. Paris MoU database states an average detention and deficiency ratio as per results of all PSC Inspections. The ISM Companies are evaluated according to the detentions and deficiencies noted on their fleet during PSC inspections on Paris MoU, as "Below Average", "Average" and "Above Average".

BRITISH BULKERS’ INC. vessels after the successful PSC Inspections in various Paris MoU ports are being considered as LOW RISK Vessels and the Company's Performance is evaluated as "Below Average" both in Deficiency and Detention Ratio due to non-identified deficiencies and/or detentions during the last 36 months.

BRITISH BULKERS INC. maintains high quality standards on its fleet which are duly demonstrated on the excellent results of various PSC Inspections in the most demanding ports worldwide. This approach ensures an effective operational life of its operating vessels.

The Company also supports and sponsors the "Soldiering On Awards" every year, an annual event organized to honor those that have sacrificed time and effort, often costing them their health or physical well-being, in order to serve the principles of the UK and its Army. A special annual event is held to honor these brave soldiers and the companies that support this non-profit organization "Soldiering On Through Life Trust".
